Running to Destiny

Chapter 28

Isaac had learned from Esau’s mistake.  Esau had married two Canaanite women and these women gave his parents the blues.

Isaac sent his second son to the place where he got his wife, Paddan Aram.  He sent Jacob away with a blessing.

Jacob was running for his life, because Esau wanted to kill him because of the birthright issue. Even though it looked like a bad thing, Jacob ran into his destiny.

On his way to Paddan Aram, Jacob had a vision one night of a stairway resting on the earth and angels ascending and descending. In the vision, the Lord appeared to  Jacob. The Lord promised that all the people of the earth would be blessed through Jacob’s family.

During a very rough time in his life, Jacob had a visit from the Lord who reassured him of the future. God sends the same types of assurances for us.

Dear Lord, Thank you for being with us and reassuring us in dark times. We know that you are a sovereign God who is more powerful than anything that comes against us. Praise you.
