Sovereign

Today’s praise comes from the book, The Prayer That Changes Everything by Stormie OMartian. Praise be to the Lord Almighty that my God never says “Oops” or “I can do better than this.” I am going to send you to an oldie, but a goodie for the song. Sovereign by Daryl Coley.

As I read Jeremiah 51 this morning, I ran into a concept I didn’t understand. You know, sometimes when you read the bible, you should run into concepts that you don’t understand.  It gives God the opportunity to be God.

In chapter 51, Jeremiah is prophecying about the destruction of Babylon.  Verses 15 and 16 stops to explain who God is, explaining that He made the earth by his power and founded the world with his wisdom.

When He thunders, the waters in the heavens roar. (v16)

I never think of the heavens’ having bodies of water. For the first time there is a concept of  bodies of water of being over me and under me.  I am surrounded by the substance.

But as I encounter those things I don’t understand, I know my God is sovereign. I don’t have to understand all that He is in order for Him to be Lord of my life.  Join me today in praising God for his sovereignty.  Allow Him to work out what ever He is doing in your life in His own sovereign way.
