Challenges

Jeremiah gives out more bad news in chapter 26.  He has been doing this for a while in this book, but for some reason, the Israelites decide they want to kill Jeremiah this time.  He did as God commanded and said that if the people did listen to God and follow His law, they would be destroyed. The Israelites seized him.

Jeremiah  replied: “As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.  Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.” (Jeremiah 26:14-15.

Sometimes we are doing what God has asked us to do, and we feel very put upon.  The attacks are real.  Satan does not want us to complete this mission. But we have to be like Jeremiah and do it anyway regardless of the consequences. Jeremiah was released. But his contemporary, Uriah, was hunted down, dragged back and killed for saying what God told him to say.

All of this to say that I don’t know why God does what He does.  Why does He save some and allows other to suffer? I don’t know. But I know I trust Him. He has a plan and I trust that all will work toward the good of those who love and are called according to His will.
