Are you a little spiritually dry?

I don’t think it was an accident that today’s reading turn out to be Jeremiah 14.  In it, God tells Israel of a drought and famine that is coming.  It wasn’t just a physical drought that Israel was experiencing. It was a spiritual drought, also.

I believe God allows our physical experience to mimic our spiritual experiences. In Texas, we are currently experiencing one of the worst droughts in our history. As a result all kinds of things can go wrong.  Things that we normally do under regular conditions, can have catastrophic results in conditions of drought, like cigarette butts and sparks.

The same could be said for your spiritual life. Continuing to do the things you always do under normal conditions, could have catastrophic results in a season of spiritual drought.

Are you in a dry place?

You avoid droughts by staying connected to the source. Just like you hook up your lawn with an irrigation system, your spirit needs regular irrigation with The Source.

Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?

Do the skies themselves send down showers?

No, it is you, O Lord our God

Therefore our hope is in you,

for you are the one who does all this. (Jeremiah 14:22)

Does this sound like you? Have I got a deal for you?
